Can you make a virtue of necessity? When the nursing home Tuindorp-Oost in Utrecht deals with increasing vacancy due to budget cuts, the management comes up with a trick: rent the empty elderly homes to young people looking for residency. This might just liven things up a bit. Ans Stockschen (88) who takes care of her demented husband, feels nothing for this solution. Her mind is already occupied with more important things. Moreover, she cannot believe that young people would enjoy living amongst all those oldies. But there are also ones who ‘long for something new’ and ‘look forward to change’, like the 105-year-old Judith Raupp and Arie Nagel (91). The bringing together of young and old is not as self-evident as it seems. How will living together come along?

Impacttour
After the broadcast the documentary travelled the country.
At ten locations (Nijmegen, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Deventer, Kloosterburen, Heerenveen, Roermond, Berkel-Enschot) the film brought together experiential experts, scientists, organizations, professionals and municipalities to think about bringing together the different generations; how do you do that? What can we learn from the film? What from personal (work) experience and from each other? And which new partnerships can be formed?
After the tour, we released a magazine. The digital version can be found here.
We also released a game – called Open Chat – to foster a real conversation. Interested? Click here.
